Does anyone have any suggestions for some Indian Electronica on itunes?
I already have Bollywood Lounge(on cd) by Don Shiva and Tantra Lounge Volumes 3 and 4(also on cd) by various artists including Anoushka Shankar, Petrol Bomb Samosa, and Natacha Atlas. I have some music by Cheb i Sabah, too. I'm not sure if his music would be considered Indian Electronica, but it's really good!
I'd love some suggestions! Oh, and anything with female vocals would be great :)
Thanks!!

Fri, January 11, 2008 - 9:25 AMThank you both!
I like Niyaz, but don't have much of their music, so I'm going to look for more of their stuff. I also like Medieval Punditz. Some of their music was in the movie Monsoon Wedding, and can also be found on one of Anoushka Shankar's albums.
I haven't heard of the rest of the music mentioned, yay new music!! -

Sun, January 13, 2008 - 4:08 PMNiyaz only has one cd I think, but if you like them I'm sure you'd like Assam Ali's other stuff too. Not Indian really, but she did grow up in India and is influenced by Indian music as well as Persian.
My man Sharaab should be on itunes too, I did a post about him recently. I love his stuff.
also Talvin Singh and Joi. -

Re: I'm looking for some Indian Electronica on itunes
Sun, January 13, 2008 - 4:21 PMYou are correct, Niyaz has only one cd. However Assam Ali was part of VAS and there are about five cd's. VAS is not electronic, it is under the genre of either world or new age; I'm sorry, I forgot which. I love her voice.
I believe she now has a solo cd. -
